Welcome to California Yoga Center


California Yoga Center has been offering yoga for all ages and abilities since 1980. We offer yoga classes and workshops in the Iyengar tradition, with studios in Mountain View and Palo Alto.

This vigorous approach emphasizes a balance between strength and flexibility while building endurance. It develops self-awareness through precision in movement and attention to subtle aspects of posture and breath. CYC teachers modify postures to encourage students to develop a deeper awareness and steadiness in the classic postures.

CYC class packages now have a one-year expiration date. You can still share the package with spouses, friends and family. Ask about sharing when you buy.

The new Mountain View center has a larger, fully-equipped yoga studio, including a full rope wall. Ropes help students to deepen their yoga poses, and ropes can have therapeutic value for students with back care and other challenges.

Using our new online scheduling system, students can purchase class packages for Mountain View and register for all workshops.

Fundamentals: Pranayama & Meditation
6-week series in Mountain View with Birgit Reimer

May 19
Yoga for Jaw Tension
Cator Shachoy, an Iyengar yoga and mindfulness meditation teacher and a craniosacral practitioner, developed this workshop based on work with over 100 clients to successfully relieve jaw tension. Her approach incorporates Iyengar yoga, mindfulness and craniosacral therapy.

Restorative Yoga
Focus on slowing down the nervous system through supported poses.

Starts June 7
Yoga for Kids Series with Gina Mead
Four week series for children 7-11. Children will learn how yoga can help them unplug, unwind and have fun in a safe and non-competitive environment.

June 10
Yoga for Cyclists
Elise Miller designed this workshop for cyclists. It will focus on yoga poses to alleviate muscle tightness and strain that often develop with recreational or competitive cycling

June 16
Yoga for Arthritis
Yoga to relieve the stiffness, joint pain and fatigue associated with arthritis. Modifications for those with limited range of motion or poor flexibility.
